For nearly three decades, we have hosted our “Derby Day Run for the Roses” fundraiser on the first Saturday in May at the WV State Fairgrounds to support our efforts and help expand our facility and services.
Each year, an average of 500 participants and many local businesses support Gateway’s mission to provide employment, training, and services while maintaining a thriving business in the community.

Politicians! Promote Your Candidacy at Derby Day 2026!
Each year, Derby Day continues to grow in popularity and support. The event is filled with excitement, great food, and live music. Attendees enjoy a silent auction with fabulous items to bid on while watching the Kentucky Derby on large screen TVs throughout the venue.
In true Kentucky Derby tradition, guests can take part in the Most Spectacular Hat Contest, with prizes awarded to the winners. Door prizes, raffles, and other activities make for an afternoon of fun, all while supporting a very worthwhile cause.
